Richard Murphy OBE is the founder and principal architect of Richard Murphy Architects operating in Edinburgh. Notably, he is the winner of the 2016 RIBA House of the year and has been nominated for the Stirling Prize for the Maggie's Centre in 1997
Richard Murphy will be talking about the lessons learnt from Carlos Scarpa without reproducing him. Based on the themes of ruins, layering, juxtaposition and erosion, rather than explaining the work of Scarpa, the lecture will be a cross reference between that of his own practice and Scarpa’s.
Richard Murphy has also provided an extraordinary guide to understanding and appreciating the renowned work of Scarpa in his new book 'Carlo Scarpa and Castelvecchio Revisited'
