EUSAS Lecture Series // Laurence Wood // Transitional Shelter

Transitional Shelter; between relief and response
As part of a non mainstream architectural practice; Laurence will be asking the bigger questions facing disaster response such as need, timescale, training, context, adaptiveness and political culture and how these are a significant part of Architectural response."Since graduating from Dundee school of architecture in 2005, Laurence has worked in international post-disaster design consultancy for charities and inter-governmental organisations in Mississippi, Nepal, Pakistan and the Philippines. His experience includes significant ‘Disaster Risk Reduction’ training and supervision, construction design and sustainable initiatives for local communities affected by typhoons and hurricanes. Laurence has also been involved in the collective building of over 800 homes for displaced families.
